This committee is dedicated to an ongoing education campaign and raising awareness about human trafficking through community-wide events that bring together leadership of various local agencies and businesses. The Human Trafficking committee provides an open forum to discuss how to identify victims in our area and what can be done to help end this modern-day slavery. Moreover, the committee gathers supplies to provide to survivors with basic necessities after they are rescued by local law enforcement.
This will be the second year of participating in the international movement – Little Black Dress Initiative, in which members wear the same black dress for a week to raise awareness of human trafficking. The Human Trafficking Committee will also be holding its second annual event, Light the Way, an education symposium and luncheon dedicated to bringing awareness to the problem of human trafficking.
