About Us

The Junior League of Daytona Beach, Inc., is an organization of women committed to promoting volunteerism, to developing the potential of women, and to improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable. The Junior League of Dayton Beach reaches out to women of all races, religions and national origins who demonstrate an interest in and commitment to volunteerism.

Our vision is to significantly improve the quality of life of women and children in our community by focusing our resources on local needs and services.

These resources come from our annual fundraisers, including our Thrift Shop, Sweetheart Ball and Casino Night. We rely on donations from area businesses to help keep expenses down in order to maximize the funds available for our community service projects and our community grants program.

  • The Junior League of Daytona Beach founded the Easter Seals Center for children and adults with disabilities. We have continued to serve as an Easter Seals partner for more than 30 years. In January 2006, the Junior League Personal Optimal Performance (POP) Academy, an after-school program for children with attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, opened at the Easter Seals Center.

  • The Junior League developed and maintains the Discovery Center at City Island Library, which provides children with books and activities to stimulate learning.

  • Project WARM (Women Assisting Recovering Mothers), a center for the treatment and temporary housing of chemically-dependent women and their children, was initiated and founded by Junior League. It is now run by the Stewart Marchman Center with ongoing League support.

  • The League opened and supports the Family Tree House Visitation Center which provides a safe, neutral setting for visits between parents and children separated due to custory issues.

  • The Junior League Thrift Shop, on
    Orange Avenue
in Daytona Beach, provides a valuable community service and is the League's primary fundraiser. The Thrift Shop also collaborates with several agencies to provide professional work attire for women entering back into the work force through our Back On Track Program.

  • In November 2006, the League begain working with, donated $10,000 and supplied 30 volunteers to Camp Begin Again, a weekend retreat (run by Hospice of Volusia/Flagler) for young people age 6 to 18 who recently lost a loved one.

  • Our Community Grants program awards a total of $20,000 - $30,000 to 20-30 agencies every year.

  • Our annual Best Foot Forward project provides about 150 "Title One" children to a shopping spree at a local retailer. Each child has a personal shopper and $125-$150 to spend on clothing and shoes.

  • The Junior League donated $100,000 to the Homeless Assistance Center Capital Campaign to facilitate the building of a shelter which opened in October 2006. Our continued efforts to support the Homeless Assistance Center also includes donations of birthday kits and blankets as well as our new "Teen Outreach Program", where we act as mentors to the young individuals through planned activities and scholarships for school programs, such as athletics, theatre, etc.

  • At our annual Pampering Day, women living in the Domestic Abuse Council shelter and transitional housing are treated to a day of spa treatments and a catered lunch while League members care for their children.

  • In our efforts to prevent childhood obesity, our Kids in the Kitchen project allows us to educate children on the importance of nutrition and exercise. The children learn how to cook healthy, how to make nutritious choices, and learn the benefits of physical activity, while having fun!!
